Who is eligible?
You may qualify for the program if you:
- Are aged 50–70 years
- Have no signs or symptoms of lung cancer
- Have smoked the equivalent of 30 pack-years or more
- Currently smoke or quit within the past 10 years
Your GP will confirm eligibility and provide a referral for a low dose CT (LDCT) chest scan. If you’re unsure about your smoking history, your GP can help calculate your pack-years.
All eligible patients will have their low dose CT scan bulk billed.
What does the scan involve?
- A quick, low dose CT scan of the chest
- Takes about 15 minutes in total, with less than 30 seconds of actual scanning
- No preparation required
- Our radiographers will guide you through the process and ensure your comfort
